EMSA An EMSA is an electrophoretic mobility shift assay, also referred to as a gel shift assay, band shift assay, or gel retardation assay. EMSA is used to study protein-DNA interactions or protein-RNA interactions. Standard methods for studying transcription factors and gene regulation include EMSA, western blots and reporter gene assays, which are time-consuming, do not allow for high-throughput and provide only semi-quantitative results. Alpha Innotech's Chemiluminescent FAST Transcription Factor Microplate Assays employ a proprietary assay technology and chemiluminescent detection that offers superior sensitivity, broad dynamic range and excellent reproducibility compared with traditional methods. In addition, our FAST assays do not require the use of radioactivity and results can be obtained in under four hours, unlike time-consuming commercially available EMSA. |
